본 프로그램은 인문학과 사회과학 분야에서 활동하는 아시아학자 대상으로 하버드-옌칭 연구소에서 주관하는 방문교수 프로그램입니다. 하버드-옌칭연구소의 파트너교 교수들을 대상으로 진행하며, 연간 약 20명이 선발되고 있습니다. 인문/사회과학 분야에 재직 중이신 교수님들의 많은 관심과 지원 바랍니다. (아래 내용은 원문을 번역한 내용이며, 첨부된 원문을 참고 바랍니다.)
1. 프로그램 지원내역
* 연구비 지원 기간: 2023년 8월부터 2024년 5월까지 총 10개월 지급
* 지원 내역:
- 비행기 이코노미석 왕복 항공권
- 10개월 동안의 거주비 매달 $7,000
- 건강 보험료 (최대 $4,500)
- 연구 조교 또는 에디터 고용 비용 및 북미지역 학술회의 혹은 연구 위한 출장 2회 지원(최대 $5,000)

2. 지원자격 및 선발기준
* 관련 분야: Anthropology, Archaeology, Area and International Studies, Art and Architectural History, History (including economic and legal history), Linguistics, Literature, Media and Film Studies, Philosophy, Politics, Study of Religion, Sociology, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies
※ Economics, Education, Geography, Law, Psychology, Public Administration 분야의 경우, 지원 전 하버드-옌칭 연구소의 Lindsay Strogatz (hyiprog@fas.harvard.edu) 와 연구 내용 확인 필요
* 본교 전임교원으로 최소 3년 이상 재직 (2020년 8월 1일 이전 재직자)
* 최근 5년간(2018년 이후) 아시아 이외의 지역에서 박사학위를 취득한 자는 지원 대상에서 제외
* 하버드-옌칭 연구소 Visiting Scholar Fellowship 기수혜자는 제외
* 영어 능력, 학력, 연구계획서의 수준 및 독창성, 전공 지식, 하버드대학 혹은 미국 내 다른 대학에서의 연구 실행 가능성 고려
* 나이제한은 없지만 신진 학자 우대 (‘Preference is given to younger scholars who are in the early stages of their academic career.’)
* 동등한 자격의 지원자라면, 최근에 미국대학에서 보낸 시간이 적은 지원자 우대
3. 기타 안내사항
* 하버드 대학교 도서관 및 시설 사용 가능
* 선발된 교수는 하버드 대학교 혹은 적절한 타 대학 교수진과 함께 작업
* 선발된 교수는 연구 기간 동안 연구과제에 대해 최소 1회 영어 발표 진행

[일반] Harvard-Yenching Institute Visiting Scholars Program (Faculty only)

The Harvard-Yenching Institute Visiting Scholars Programs offers younger faculty members in the humanities and social sciences the opportunity to undertake 10 months of independent research at Harvard University. The proposed research project should be related to the humanities and social sciences with an emphasis on culture. Applicants do not have to be working on Asian studies topics to be eligible, however, Asian and comparative studies are especially welcome. Successful applicants join researchers at the Harvard-Yenching Institute, and have access to the Harvard University libraries. (source: Harvard-Yenching Institute website)
Ewha faculty of the humanities and social sciences are welcome to apply.
1. Eligibility
Visiting Scholars Program candidates should have been serving at Ewha Womans University for at least three years (before August 1, 2020) as a full-time faculty member. Scholars who gained their PhD from an institution outside of Asia within the past five years (after 2018) are not eligible. Previous recipients of a Visiting Scholar fellowship from HYI are not eligible to reapply for this program.
2. Period and Coverage
* Study and research period: August 2023 to May 2024, 10 months
* Coverage:
- Round trip economy class airfare
- A stipend of US $7,000 per month for 10-month residence
- Health Insurance up to the amount of $4,500
- Funding (up to $5,000) for hiring a research assistant or an editor, and for participating in academic conferences or/and making brief research trips in North America

Candidates’ fields of research in the humanities and social sciences to be considered: Anthropology, Archaeology, Area and International Studies, Art and Architectural History, History (including economic and legal history), Linguistics, Literature, Media and Film Studies, Philosophy, Politics, Study of Religion, Sociology, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies
※ Scholars in the fields of Economics, Education, Geography, Law, Psychology, and Public Administration may be considered, but must check with the Institute before submitting applications. If the research field of any potential candidate falls outside the disciplines mentioned above, and you are not sure if the candidate is eligible for the program, please contact Lindsay Strogatz at <hyiprog@fas.harvard.edu> before submitting an application.
