The College of Engineering was established in 1996 to meet the country's needs for highly educated women engineers.

The world’s first women's college of engineering was rebuilt in July of 1996, over a land of 10,000 square meters as a five story building with a basement, and was fully equipped with modern facilities. A new engineering building was built in September of 2008, to further advance our goal of becoming a global leader. The modernized equipment in this building will substantially enhance the quality of education and research. The college was divided in 2008 into the Division of Computer and Electronic Engineering, the Division of Architecture, and the Division of Environmental and Food Science. There are approximately 1,400 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students enrolled in the college.

Professional skills are of high value in the 21st century’s information society, with increased need for creativity, artistic skills and the details which are unique to women. It has therefore become mandatory to foster woman engineers for the development of our country. Ewha's College of Engineering is nurturing professional woman engineers who can lead the modern science and technology fields to meet these social demands.
