Jung-Sun Kim Professor Emeritus
Professor Jung Sun Kim received her Ph.D in Sociology from Brown University, USA in 1988. Since joining the Ewha faculty at the Department of Sociology in 1991, she has been teaching in areas including medical and organizational sociology. Professor Kim’s work has principally been focused on the cultural context of medicine and medical profession with particular emphasis on the identity of female doctors. She is a founding member of the Korean Association of Health and Medical Sociology in 1988 and has been serving as the president of the organization in 2017. Notable researches include “A Preliminary Study on the Effects of Increasing Female Doctors and Medical Students on the Medical Profession and Education”(Ewha Journal of Social Sciences), “The Implication of Reproductive Technology on Women’s Health”(Journal of Health and Social Science), <Health and Society>(Sinkwang), and <Medicine as Culture>(translation, Hanul)
