Meaningful Opportunity to Foster Women Talent in the Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Field
Women AI Researchers from Silicon Valley Big Tech Companies and Korean AI Leaders Share Firsthand Career Advice
The Ewha Women in AI (WiAI) Career Workshop was successfully held on September 18 (Friday) at Space C to support the development of women talent in the field of artificial intelligence and help them plan their careers. The event was jointly organized by Ewha Womans University’s Artificial Intelligence Major and Seoul National University’s Graduate School of Data Science with support from Explore CSR, a program sponsored by global IT company Google. Explore CSR is a program designed to promote diversity in computer science and artificial intelligence worldwide and encourage research participation among talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, including women. Ewha has been selected for the program together with Seoul National University’s Graduate School of Data Science since 2022 and has played a leading role in its implementation. In particular, this workshop was meticulously organized under the leadership of a committee comprising Ewha professors Kim Sugyeong, Choi Janghwan, Noh Junhyeok, Jo Hyeonsu, Choi Daejin, Kim Jiwon, Song Daeun, and Lee Jiyoung, further enhancing the event’s professionalism and quality.
The workshop featured leading experts active on both the global stage and in Korea as panelists, providing participating students with practical and in-depth career advice. Women AI researchers working at Silicon Valley big tech companies such as Netflix, Apple, Google, and Meta, as well as leaders driving Korea’s AI ecosystem at companies and organizations including Karrot, LG AI Research, and NAVER, participated as panelists and openly shared their visions for the AI field and their career paths. The Ewha faculty committee that led the event said, “We organized this workshop so that talented women in AI can proactively develop their capabilities and grow in step with an era in which AI technology is transforming the world.” The committee added, “We hope that, through collaboration among Google and Seoul National University’s Graduate School of Data Science, students were greatly inspired by the firsthand voices from the global stage and Korea’s industrial field. Ewha’s Artificial Intelligence Major will continue to provide unwavering support to foster outstanding women AI talent.”
