Students Put ESG·SDGs into Practice for a Sustainable Campus
10 Students from Diverse Majors Participate, Strengthening Practical Skills from Planning to Implementation
The Ewha Center for Global Social Responsibility (Director Ha Eun Hee) successfully completed the second cohort of its Internship Program, designed to enhance Ewha students’ understanding of ESG and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and provide them with hands-on experience directly participating in the university’s sustainability initiatives.
Supported by the University Innovation Support Project, the Internship Program had a total of 10 students participate, all of whom successfully completed the program. The participating students were Kim Na Hyun (Department of Statistics), Kim Ye Eun (Division of Communication and Media), Kim Ha Eun (Department of Environmental Engineering), Min Seong Yeon (Department of Science Education), Park Sae Byeol (Department of International Studies, Graduate School of International Studies), Yun Eun Ji (Department of Educational Technology), Lee Jae In (Department of Science Education), Jang Seo Yun (Department of Economics), Choi So Yun (Department of English Education), and Han Seung Yeon (Department of Computer Science and Engineering).
Over the past six months, the interns participated in major initiatives of the Ewha Center for Global Social Responsibility, broadening their understanding of ESG and sustainability while developing practical skills. Their responsibilities included ▲planning and operating ESG campaigns ▲planning and operating the Green for All (G4A) supporter program of the Ewha Center for Global Social Responsibility ▲producing promotional content ▲archiving materials for the EWHA Sustainability Report ▲supporting the operation of the 2026 Planetary Health Forum, held as part of Ewha’s 140th anniversary celebrations ▲organizing an ESG idea competition and conducting an awareness survey, among other activities, giving them firsthand experience in the university’s sustainability initiatives.
In particular, the second-cohort interns went beyond simply carrying out assigned tasks. They examined the university’s ESG·SDGs activities from a student perspective and actively proposed new ideas. Drawing on their diverse academic backgrounds and areas of interest, they exchanged opinions and developed their ideas, then incorporated them into the planning and operation of actual projects. Through this process, they deepened their understanding of the university’s sustainability initiatives while simultaneously strengthening their practical skills.
Director Ha Eun Hee of the Ewha Center for Global Social Responsibility encouraged the interns, saying, “Although there may have been challenging moments as you balanced your studies with your internship activities, I am grateful to all the students for carrying out their respective roles responsibly until the end. Above all, I was deeply impressed by the fresh ideas and enthusiasm you demonstrated as you took an interest in and actively participated in the university’s sustainability initiatives.” She continued, “I hope that the experience of directly reflecting on various issues facing the university and society and turning your ideas into actual activities through this internship will remain a meaningful asset for you. Based on this experience, I hope you will continue to grow into individuals who take an interest in and responsibility for society in your future careers and lives and create positive change in your respective fields.”
The Ewha Center for Global Social Responsibility will continue to diversify student participation programs and expand opportunities for practical experience so that students can directly participate in the university’s ESG·SDGs activities and develop ideas for sustainability into concrete action.
