Ewha Womans University has signed the university-industry collaboration agreement with the Maeil Business Newspaper on March 7. This agreement was concluded with the intention of pursuing both the university-industry cooperation project and the talent nurturing project, which was designed to train anti-money laundering experts demanded by domestic financial institutions and companies to cope with the fast-changing global environment.

MOU

In accordance with the agreement, Ewha’s College of Business Administration will establish Ewha-Maeil Business Newspaper Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Academy to nurture anti-money laundering professionals. Especially given that Korea is due for evaluation of its anti-money laundering measures conducted by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) this year, it is all the more imperative to train experts in a systematic way.

In the academy curriculum, specialists equipped with specialized knowledge and field experience will deliver lectures on the law and regulations on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing system, as well as various cases of relevant system management at home and abroad.

Kim Heisook, president of Ewha Woman’s University, said, “I hope that the anti-money laundering expert curriculum would serve as a good model, so that Ewha and Maeil would work together in the future to develop and manage other various profound and professional programs corresponding to the needs of the specialized society.”
