Ewha Journalist Club Opens the 2023 Regular Meeting and Ewha Journalist Awards Ceremony

‘Ewha Journalist Club,’ made up of Ewha graduates who are working in the press field, opened the ‘Ewha Journalist Club 2023 Regular Meeting’ and the 23rd ‘Ewha Journalist Award of the Year’ ceremony. It was held in the International Education Building’s LG Convention Hall on May 25th.

The Ewha Journalist Club is a network of Ewha graduates who are working in the press field and are active in the newspaper, broadcast, magazine etc areas. It started in 1997 and is now the 25th year. In this day’s event, about 70 people gathered to congratulate the Ewha Journalist Award winners and encourage the club members. Attendees included Chairman Myungsoo Jang of Ewha Hakdang, President Eunmi Kim of Ewha Womans University, Vice-director Sehoon Bang of Planning Department, and professors of the Communication · Media department.

  

Since 2001, the Ewha Journalist Club selects and awards a alumni journalists who played an active part in the press field every year. At the 23rd ‘Ewha Journalist Award of the Year,’ Head Hyunkyung Kang of Kukmin Ilbo’s editor department 2(graduate of 1996, Department of Korean Language & Literature) and Political Reporter Jihye Shin of KBS(graduate of 2011, Department of Media & Information) were prized as winners. Hyunkyung Kang, a Kukmin Ilbo editor, has worked in this area for 33 years and contributed to the progress of the press field. Jihye Shin has been acknowledged for her abilities in various areas, starting from election reports to programs of current events/news.

  

At the event, President Eunmi Kim delivered encouraging words to the club’s alumni through the greeting speech. Afterwards, there was the introduction of the Ewha Journalist Club’s leaders, an accounting report on the income and outcome, and time for socializing between the members. Chairman Myungsoo Jang of Ewha Hakdang, the ex-president of Hankuk Ilbo and the first woman to become Joongang Daily’s chief editor, expressed her encouragement to junior journalists by proposing a toast.
