Ewha Womans University and Boeing Korea signs an MOU on ICT Talent Cultivation

Will receive support from Boeing, the world’s biggest aerospace company, for the cultivation of state-of-the-art ICT workers

  

Plans to provide scholarships, internships, career mentoring etc for students of the College of Artificial Intelligence and College of Engineering 


On April 20th, Ewha signed an MOU with Boeing, the world’s largest aerospace company, in order to cultivate Korean ICT-talented workers with creative challenges and a determined innovative mind. By receiving support for business funds, they also decided to cooperate for the discovering and training of excellent students from the College of Artificial Intelligence and College of Engineering.

  

Boeing is U.S.A.’s representative aerospace and defense company, and has been leading the aerospace industry ever since its foundation in 1916. Along with the development and manufacturing of commercial airplanes, military airplanes, rockets, satellites etc, Boeing is expanding their business in various areas, such as flight service, transportation, and the like. It is successfully carrying out the International Space Station (ISS) project and is playing a leading role in the state-of-the-art space industry.

  

Through this agreement, Boeing plans to support excellent undergraduates and graduates in majors related to AI/engineering software with scholarships, and will co-host creative contests and various academic-advancing programs with the College of Artificial Intelligence and College of Engineering. Not only that but they will also grant internship opportunities and provide career mentoring to College of Artificial Intelligence and College of Engineering students every year.

June Seong Yi, president of Ewha University-Industry Collaboration Foundation, and Eric John, president of Boeing Korea and vice-president of Boeing Global, signed the MOU as representatives of each institute. After the ceremony, Ewha’s president Eun Mee Kim met with Brendan Nelson, the vice-president of Boeing and president of Boeing Global. President Eun Mee Kim shared a word of thanks by saying, “Because Ewha founded the world’s first womens’ engineering college, we are that much more aware of the important responsibility in cultivating ICT-talented women workers and global women leaders. We are very encouraged in the discovering and training of creative · innovative ICT talents through Boeing’s support and cooperation.”

  

In 2022, Ewha established the Artificial Intelligence Major of the Division of AI Convergence and the Graduate School of Data Science. This year, it established the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Department of Data Science, and is cultivating women leaders through state-of-the-art education that takes action against the great digital shift that’s happening in this generation. Ewha has been recognized for its excellent ICT research capability and education results, and is currently carrying out the ‘business of supporting software-centered colleges’ and ‘business of cultivating AI convergence innovative talent.’
