Juyoung Yoon, a chair professor of the Department of Chemistry & Nanoscience, won the 2022 MSMLG Czarnik Award on July 15 (Fri).

MSMLG (Molecular Sensors and Molecular Logic Gates) is the prestigious international conference in chemical sensors, imaging probes, molecular logic gates, and phototherapy research.

MSMLG holds an international conference every two years to let researchers in chemical sensors and molecule circuits share their ideas and experiences in person, and award MSMLG Czarnik Award to one researcher who has accomplished outstanding academic achievements in chemical sensors and MSMLG Czarnik Emerging Investigator Award to two new researchers.

The Czarnik Award was created in honor of Professor Anthony W. Czarnik, who conducted leading research in fluorescent chemical sensors and was also a doctoral supervisor of Professor Juyoung Yoon.

Professor Juyoung Yoon won the 2022 MSMLG Czarnik Award in recognition of being a leading researcher in fluorescent probes and phototherapy. The award ceremony was held at the 7th International Conference on Molecular Sensors and Molecular Logic Gates (MSMLG 2022), held in Dublin, Ireland from July 12 (Tue) to 15 (Fri). Professor Yoon gave his acceptance speech at the ceremony, saying, “I am so grateful to especially win the award named after my advisor professor. I thank my graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and Ewha Womans University research foundation for their support of my research.”

Professor Yoon won the 2019 Toray Science Foundation Awards and the 2020 Kyung-Ahm Prize, and has been selected as the world’s top 1% researcher by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) for eight consecutive years from 2014 to 2021.
