Minsoo Ji, Seoyoon Kwon, Seongyeon Lee of the Department of Climate and Energy Systems Engineering

  • Minsoo Ji won the “Participation Award” at the 16th “Thesis Contest for Graduate Students”, hosted by Korean Resource Economics Association.


Minsoo Ji of the Department of Climate and Energy Systems Engineering (Advisor: Professor Baehyun Min) won the Participation Award at the 16th thesis contest for graduate students, hosted by Korean Resource Economics Association. Due to the current social distancing measure, the award ceremony was held online on Dec 18, 2020.


Korean Resource Economics Association hosts the contest as part of various academic activities in the fields of energy, natural resources, and the environment. Ms. Ji was selected for her study on “The economic evaluation of reservoir based on Deep Learning using geophysical data."



  • Seoyoon Kwon, won the “Excellent Thesis Award” at “2020 Overseas Resource Development Symposium”


Seoyon Kwon, in the doctoral program of Climate and Energy Systems Engineering (Advisor: Professor Baehyun Min), won the “Excellent Thesis Award” at “2020 Overseas Resource Development Symposium” on Dec 11, 2020.


The symposium is held annually with the support of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and co-hosted by nine domestic institutions and organizations. Under the theme of "Change and Future of Overseas Resource Development," the symposium served as an opportunity to explore future growth strategies of resource development in the Green New Deal era. Due to the seriousness of the pandemic, the symposium was carried out online and offline in Seoul.


Ms. Kwon won the Excellent Paper Award given by the president of Korea National Oil Corporation for her paper "A study on the evaluation of CO2-EOR efficiency in carbonate reservoir using multiple linear regression analysis."



  • Seongyeon Lee, won the “Excellent Poster Award” at the 2020 Korean Meteorological Society Fall Academic Conference


Seongyeon Lee, in the doctoral program of Climate and Energy Systems Engineering (Advisor: Professor Seon Ki Park), won the “Excellent Poster Award” at the 2020 Korean Meteorological Society Fall Academic Conference, held online from Oct 28 to Oct 29. Ms. Lee made a presentation about “Optimizing snow albedo of Noah LSM using genetic algorithms”.


Korean Meteorological Society has contributed to the development, application, and dissemination of meteorology, as well as to national development through research and development on science and technology. A total of 239 posters were presented at this year’s Fall conference, and 28 excellent posters were selected in five categories.
