Ewha was selected as 1 of 10 pilot universities for K-MOOC which is run by the Ministry of Education. A Massive Open Online Course(MOOC) is an online course offered by world famous universities whose goal is aimed for unlimited participation and open access through the web. K-MOOC is the specialized Korean Model for the MOOC service.
Ewha’s K-MOOC, which will begin during the second half of this year, will include “Modern Physics and the Change of Human Thinking” by Chanju Kim, “Understanding of Movie Storytelling” by Chulgyun Lyou, “Human Action and Society Structure” by Inhee Hahm, and “Socio Cultural History Interpreted by Architecture” by Seockjae Yim. Ewha will offer these courses in the form of “flipped learning” and participating students will receive credits upon completion of these courses.
For the first time in Korea, Ewha started its MOOC service via "iTunes U" in March 2013. The program starting with an eight courseware consisting of 132 courses, has since grown triple to an eleven courseware comprising of 477 courses. Courses offered by Ewha are so popular that two of those courses ranked first and the sixth on charts.
