Faculty Noon Concert with Sejong Soloists

 

The College of Music held its “Faculty Noon Concert with Sejong Soloists” at the Emerson Chapel on December 11.

 

Through the Faculty Noon Concert, a free event, Ewha faculty members and world famous musicians offer the Ewha family a feast of music and an opportunity for communication. Marking its 12th ceremony, the concert was held in collaboration with the Sejong Soloists, a chamber music ensemble comprising of young artists from around the world. Sejong Soloists was established in 1994 by Professor Hyo Kang from the Juilliard School along with other 11 artists from eight nations including Korea with the purpose of presenting a model for string orchestras. Sejong Soloists is an internationally renowned orchestra that has performed more than 400 concerts in approximately 100 cities.

During the event, 15 string musicians played George Gershwin’s Lullaby, for String Quartet, H. Léonard’s Sérénade Humoristique á l’espagnole, a Korean song, Daffodils, and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op.95, Serioso. After the performance, they returned for an encore by playing a medley of carols that delivered the joy of Christmas.
