Ewha-Harvard Summer School Held

Ewha-Harvard Summer School held its closing ceremony at the LG Convention Hall in the International Studies Building on June 29th. The summer school was held in Ewha from June 27 to July 29th.

Ewha-Harvard Summer School, started in 2006, is a program designed for the students from Harvard and Ewha to learn and experience Korean history and culture together. Ewha is the only university in Korea that has the exchange partnership for summer school with Harvard University. 26 students including 12 students from Harvard, 12 Ewha students, and 2 students from schools with exchange partnership with Ewha participated in the summer school this year.

The theme of the summer school was 'Cinema Seoul: Documenting Korea through Film'. Professor Haden Gust from Harvard University and Professor David Chung from the Michigan State University led and taught students the skills of making movies and other practical lessons such as writing scripts and editing.

Divided into six groups, the students finished filming with their hand-held camera. Many and various interviews and other cameraworks about the history and culture of Seoul were put in the film. On the day of the closing ceremony, there was a showing of the documentary films produced by the students, among which the film entitled "Multi-culturalism in Korea".
