Dong Ju Ham Professor
Department of History/Scranton Honors Program
Dongju HAM is a professor at the department of History and an affiliated professor at the Scranton school and an expert in modern Japanese history. She received Master's & Ph.D. degrees in Japanese history from the University of Chicago. Her major field of research is modern Japanese discourses on Asia, colonialism and the formation of Japan's modern historiography. She also served as chairperson of the Korean Association for Japanese History (2011-2013) and has been active in various academic activities. She has published numerous books and articles on modern Japanese history including postwar Japan. She published The Birth of Tennosei Modern State(Changjakkwabipyungsa). Recently, she has worked on a series of articles on Japan's colonial discourse during the Russo-Japanese War.
