Ewha Womans University undergraduate and graduate students received multiple awards in major training programs at the 3rd Korea Student Startup Week, held at Wonkwang University from July 6 to 10, once again demonstrating their creativity and innovative ideas.
The undergraduate team "F5_Refresh" (Team Leader Oh Yeonhu, Yang Hyerin, and Kim Jihyun from the Department of Nutritional Science and Food Management, and Han Seunghyun from the School of Business), which participated in the "SCOUT THE 100" program—the flagship track of the SCOUT (Startup Education Innovation Leading University) initiative—won the Top Prize. During the Proof of Concept (PoC) program, which focused on advancing startup ideas for aspiring entrepreneurs in the food sector nationwide, the team presented an original concept titled "A Daily Mental Care Beverage for Exam Takers Based on Saffron Extract." Their idea received high marks for both its market potential and innovation.
Ewha students also excelled in the "Uni 2 Market" program under the Laboratory-Based Startup Leading University Project, which showcases the technological entrepreneurship capabilities of graduate students. The graduate student team "Habit Tune" (Team Leader Jang Young and Park Hyejin from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering) received the Excellence Award for proposing "An AI Children's Song Service That Encourages Positive Daily Habits in Children." The achievement reflects external recognition of Ewha graduate students' outstanding ability to develop and design technology-driven startup ideas.
Korea Student Startup Week was established to reduce regional disparities in entrepreneurship education and promote nationwide collaboration through student entrepreneurship programs. Hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the National Research Foundation of Korea, the event brought together approximately 1,000 aspiring entrepreneurs from across the country for an intensive five-day, four-night hands-on training program.
Ewha's continued success in student entrepreneurship competitions each year is supported by its comprehensive startup support system, which provides guidance throughout every stage of the entrepreneurial journey. Kim Sangjun, Director of the Ewha Startup Support Center, remarked, "These achievements are the result of our customized mentoring programs, which strengthen students' core competencies at every stage—from helping undergraduates commercialize innovative ideas to supporting graduate students in launching advanced technology-based ventures from their research laboratories." He added, "We will continue to provide unwavering support so that our students can pursue innovation without fear of failure and grow into entrepreneurs who compete on the global stage."
