The Ewha Press Club, a network of Ewha Womans University alumni working in the media industry, held its 2025 Annual General Meeting and the 25th Ewha Journalist of the Year Awards Ceremony on June 15 (Mon.) at Lee Sam Bong Hall in the ECC.

Founded in 1997, the Ewha Press Club has brought together Ewha alumnae pursuing careers in newspapers, broadcasting, magazines, and other media fields for the past 28 years. Approximately 180 attendees—including President Hyang Sook Lee, former Chairperson of the Ewha School Foundation Myung Sook Chang, Vice President for Academic Affairs Sung Yeon Park, Vice President for Research and External Affairs Jung Soo Park, Vice President for Medical Affairs Kyong Hwa Yoo, senior administrators, and faculty members from the Division of Communication and Media—gathered to congratulate the award recipients and celebrate the members of the Ewha Press Club.축사를 전하는 이향숙 총장 | 올해의 이화언론인상 수상자 김은령 동창, 김윤덕 회장, 이윤희 동창

Hosted by SBS announcer Byung Hee Lee (English Language and Literature, Class of 1999), the event opened with welcoming remarks by Yun Deok Kim (Political Science and International Relations, Class of 1992), President of the Ewha Press Club, followed by a congratulatory address from President Hyang Sook Lee.

President Lee remarked, "Celebrating its 140th anniversary this year, Ewha has continued its history of innovation—from pioneering women's higher education in Korea and ushering in an era of women's leadership to expanding beyond its strong foundation in the humanities into the fields of science and technology." She added, "As Ewha continues to grow into a university that addresses the shared challenges of humanity and creates new values for the future, I hope that our distinguished Ewha journalists will remain valued partners who continue to support and accompany us on this journey."

Following the club's annual activity report, the Ewha Journalist of the Year Awards ceremony was held. Since 2001, the Ewha Press Club has recognized distinguished alumnae journalists each year for their outstanding contributions to the media industry.

The recipients of the 26th Ewha Journalist of the Year Award were Eun Ryung Kim, former Executive Vice President of Design House (English Language and Literature, Class of 1994), and Yun Hee Lee, anchor at KBS (Journalism and Broadcasting, Class of 2000).

Former Executive Vice President Kim previously served as editor-in-chief and division head forHappy HomeandLuxurymagazines. She currently publishes the content newsletterHer Report. She played a pivotal role in establishing the Living Design Fair as Korea's premier exhibition for the design industry and is also active as an author and translator, having translated Rachel Carson'sSilent Springinto Korean.

Anchor Yun Hee Lee previously hosted programs includingEconomic ConcertandSunday Diagnosisbefore becoming the sole anchor of KBS Weekend News at 9 in March of last year. She became the first woman in 33 years to serve as the sole anchor of KBS's flagship 9 p.m. news program. Last year, she also became the first female anchor to moderate the 21st presidential election debate, earning recognition for leading the discussion with fairness and balance.

The second part of the event, titledA Special Meeting with Nora Noh, featured celebrated fashion designer Nora Noh, whose century-long life has been recognized as a living history of both Korea's women's movement and the nation's fashion industry. The special program included a video introducing Nora Noh, remarks titledNora Noh and Meby former Chairperson Myung Sook Chang, the presentation of the Honorary Ewha Journalist Award, and Nora Noh's talk,Ewha and Me, creating a memorable and meaningful occasion. The program continued with congratulatory remarks by Hyun Yi Lee (Economics, Class of 2011), honorary ambassador for Ewha's 140th anniversary, followed by a celebratory performance by singer Hyun Jin-young, further enlivening the atmosphere.

The evening concluded with a banquet and networking session, which opened with a toast by former Chairperson Myung Sook Chang. Returning to their alma mater, Ewha alumnae journalists enjoyed the opportunity to strengthen their professional network while reaffirming their shared affection for Ewha.
