This visit was conducted as an extension of the ongoing collaboration established last year between the university’s Department of Music Therapy, Fujian Medical University, and Hongai Maternity Hospital. Previously, Fujian Medical University and Hongai Hospital secured a grant of 2,000,000 RMB (approximately 370 million KRW) for a music therapy project. Professor Chong has served as an advisor for the project, contributing to the development of music therapy protocols applicable to medical settings as well as the planning of professional education and training programs.

During the seminar, the department shared how the research and clinical expertise accumulated at the university has been applied in real healthcare settings overseas to support infants, mothers, and diverse patient populations. In particular, the two institutions agreed to initiate collaborative research on emotional regulation and psychological healing strategies related to sleep by introducing a new music therapy protocol designed for sleep disorders.

In addition, both institutions emphasized the significance of the project in creating overseas music therapy internship opportunities for international students enrolled in the university’s Department of Music Therapy. The initiative is expected to expand students’ international clinical experience and understanding of multicultural healthcare environments while contributing to the development of globally competent music therapy professionals.

Moving forward, Professor Chong will continue to support the project as an advisory board member by contributing to the development of music therapy protocols, professional education initiatives, and the advancement of clinical application models. Through these efforts, the collaboration aims to strengthen the international expansion and professionalization of music therapy within healthcare settings.
