Ewha Global Social Responsibility Institute to Serve as a Communication Channel for Future Generations in Climate Policy

The Ewha Global Social Responsibility Institute will take part in the government-led Youth Climate Council, playing a key role as a communication channel for future generations in climate policy. The institute is joining the “Youth Climate Council” initiated by the Presidential Commission on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth, contributing to the establishment of a platform for dialogue with future generations on climate crisis response.

이화글로벌사회공헌원, 정부 주도 ‘청소년·청년 기후협의체’ 참여On April 18, the Commission officially launched the council at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Samcheong-dong, with youth and adolescent climate organizations in attendance. Prime Minister Kim Min-seok also held a meeting with representatives. The council brings together approximately 30 youth organizations, including those from elementary, middle, and high schools, universities, and youth groups, and will serve as a communication channel between the government and young people on climate policy.

As a representative university participant, the Ewha Global Social Responsibility Institute will contribute to discussions on climate crisis response and policy proposals from the perspective of the younger generation. The council will hold regular quarterly meetings to ensure ongoing policy discussions and the collection of diverse opinions, operating as an official channel through which the voices of future generations can be reflected in policymaking.

The launch of the council is significant in that it establishes a foundation for adolescents and young adults—those directly affected by the climate crisis—to participate in the policymaking process. Youth organizations that attended the meeting welcomed the creation of an official communication channel with the government and expressed hope that the policies proposed through the council will be meaningfully implemented.

Building on its accumulated expertise in education and research in global social responsibility and sustainable development, the Ewha Global Social Responsibility Institute plans to expand youth leadership and social engagement in addressing the climate crisis through its participation in the council.
