Ewha Brain Institute Forges Global Neuroscience Partnership with Boston University
The Ewha Brain Institute signed a master agreement with Boston University on April 27 to foster global collaboration in neuroscience. The agreement establishes a framework for future joint research and academic cooperation between the two institutions and will remain in effect for five years, with the possibility of extension by mutual consent.
The partnership will focus on five core initiatives: conducting joint research, facilitating student-researcher exchange, securing international grants, organizing academic events, and co-authoring academic publications. Most notably, the two institutions plan to leverage their respective strengths in precision neuroimaging and neurorehabilitation research to advance convergence research on the treatment of affective, cognitive, and language disorders.
The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Swathi Kiran of Boston University and Professor Soo-Eun Chang of the University of Michigan. Kiran plans to focus her collaborative research efforts on AI-driven cognitive recovery for individuals with brain damage, while Chang will conduct joint research on brain mechanisms during development and the interaction between affect and cognition.
“This agreement will serve as a springboard for our institute to establish itself as a global leader in precision neuroimaging technology and related research. Through our partnership with Boston University, we will develop innovative treatment strategies and expand joint research with global partners,” said In Kyoon Lyoo, Director of the Ewha Brain Institute. The institute aims to foster an ecosystem for global convergence research encompassing basic research, clinical applications, and commercialization.
