Ewha Holds 2026 New Student Convocation 

2026학년도 입학식 개최Ewha Womans University held its 2026 convocation for new students at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 27, in the Welch-Ryang Auditorium, welcoming 3,727 new students.


The ceremony began with a prayer, followed by the president’s welcoming address, introducing key faculty members, congratulatory performances, the freshman pledge, singing the Ewha anthem, and the benediction. This year’s convocation, held on the university’s 140th anniversary, featured a variety of congratulatory performances and videos and included photo zones and booths where new students and their families could take snapshots of the proud occasion.

사회를 맡은 김초롱 아나운서(왼쪽) | 입학식사를 전하는 이향숙 총장(가운데)In her welcoming address, President Hyang-Sook Lee welcomed the incoming class, noting that “over its 140-year history, Ewha has grown into a global community of 270,000 alumnae.” She emphasized that, in the era of AI and digital transformation, universities are places where individuals learn to pose their own questions and drive change and encouraged students to write their own Ewha stories with a spirit of enterprise, solidarity, and social responsibility.

남성교수중창단 축가The program continued with the introduction of key faculty members, followed by a congratulatory performance by the Ewha Male Faculty Choir. A representative of the incoming class then delivered the freshman pledge, marking the start of students’ academic journey. The first part of the ceremony concluded with the singing of the Ewha anthem and the benediction.

The convocation’s second part, titled “Welcome to Ewha,” featured congratulatory video messages from professors, alumnae, and broadcasters, along with performances by Ewha SORI, an ensemble of voice majors from the Department of Korean Music, and PYRUS, the university’s cheering squad, in a show of support for students beginning their university studies.
