자연사박물관, '2024년 대학박물관 진흥지원 사업' 우수관 선정

자연사박물관은 문화체육관광부가 주최하고 (사)한국대학박물관협회가 주관하는 '2024년 대학박물관 진흥지원 사업'에서 우수관으로 선정되었다.
자연사박물관 기획전 <해양생물다양성>과 연계하여, 초등 및 실버 대상의 '바다가 들려주는 이야기'와 중고등 대상의 '디스커버리 해양생물다양성' 교육을 개발 및 수행했다. 또한 초등과학기초이론을 수강하는 본교 사범대 학생들과 함께 '상설전시 연계 교육'을 개발해보는 프로그램을 진행하였다.
서부교육지원청과 업무협약을 체결하여 지역 내 문해교육기관을 대상으로 '민관학 함께 하는 해양 생태교실'로 운영하여 성인 문해학습자들에게 새로운 융합교육 기회를 제공하고 평생교육의 다양화 및 활성화에 기여한 점, 참여자들이 실제로 해양생물 표본을 만져보고 탐구해 보는 체험교육으로 해양생물과 해양생태계 보전에 관한 관심을 고취한 점, 사범대학생들을 대상으로 교육프로그램을 운영하여 교육기관 및 문화기반시설로서의 대학박물관에 대한 이해를 촉진하고, 학교 밖 과학교육 기관으로서 자연사박물관의 역할을 제고한 점, 초등학교 연계 단체교육 형태로 방문 교육프로그램을 운영하여 해양생물다양성에 관한 생명 존중 및 생태․환경 감수성을 증진하고, 여러 가지 재료를 활용한 창의적 표현 활동으로 참여자들의 상상력과 창의성 증진에 기여한 점 등이 돋보인 프로그램으로 평가받았다.
향후 자연사박물관은 지역민뿐만 이나리 대학 내 구성원들이 직접 참여할 수 있는 교육프로그램을 지속적으로 확장할 계획이다. 지역 문화자원의 가치를 인식하고 대학박물관에 대한 긍정적 이미지를 형성할 수 있도록, 자연사박물관의 기본 기능인 수집, 보존, 연구 기능과 더불어 교육, 전시를 다각화하고 있다.
Natural History Museum Selected as an Outstanding Institution for the 2024 University Museum Promotion Support Project

The Natural History Museum of Ewha Womans University has been recognized as an outstanding institution in the 2024 University Museum Promotion Support Project, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korean Association of University Museums.
The museum developed and implemented educational programs in connection with its special exhibition, ‘Marine Biodiversity.’ These include Stories the Sea Tells for elementary school students and seniors, as well as Discovery: Marine Biodiversity for middle and high school students. Additionally, the museum collaborated with students enrolled in basic science theory courses at Ewha’s College of Education to design programs linking the museum’s permanent exhibitions with educational activities.
In partnership with the Seoul Seobu District Office of Education, the museum launched the ‘Marine Ecology Classroom: A Public-Private-Academic Collaboration,’ offering literacy education institutions in the region a new opportunity for integrated lifelong learning. The program provided adult literacy learners with hands-on experiences, such as examining marine specimens, fostering awareness of marine biodiversity and conservation. The museum also operated educational programs for students in the College of Education, enhancing their understanding of university museums as both cultural hubs and educational institutions. By offering group-based educational visits to elementary school students, the museum contributed to raising awareness about the importance of marine biodiversity, fostering ecological and environmental sensitivity. The program was also considered outstanding since it contributed to enhancing the creativity and imagination of the participants through creative expression activities using various materials.
The Natural History Museum plans to continuously expand educational programs that engage both local communities and university students. By highlighting the value of regional cultural resources, the museum aims to foster a positive image of university museums. It continues to diversify its core functions of collection, preservation, and research while enhancing its roles in education and exhibition.
