We are happy to inform you that we are receiving applications for the Ewha-Rostock 2016 SARU (Summer Academy Reunification) program, co-organized by Ewha Womans University and University of Rostock of Germany! Please read through the information below.

1.    Background information of the SARU Program

The goal of this summer program is to address the theme of unification processes in Korea by way of analysing the unification processes of Germany. This encounter between Germany and Korea should enable the participants to get information and tools at hand that would enable them to analyze the respective historical and political situation. The idea is to enhance the typical discussion and not to restrict the discussion to political and economic aspects but open it to all relevant fields.

The very first SARU program was held in University of Rostock, a 400-year old institution representing the former East Germany in 2015. If was initiated by the DAAD to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Germany’s reunification and to share their experience to students worldwide. After a successful 2015 SARU, both institutions have agreed to run 2016 SARU at Ewha. 2015 SARU was focused on the experience of Germany’s reunification, whereas 2016 SARU will focus on the application of such experience to the Korean peninsula.
