Introduction

The Ewha Institute for Women's Theological Studies is a nondenominational institute affiliated with Ewha Womans University. It was founded in March, 1993. Its purpose has been extended to include education and training of "professional" women theologians and women ministers, to enable them to perform and respond more competently to the complicated issues of both church and society.
The main purposes of this institute are to raise consciousness of women's issues among Korean churchwomen, and to promote theological and institutional reformation in Korean church toward women's full humanization. These involve a process of theological reflection on Korean women's experiences and of reflection on the church's traditions from a feminist perspective.
Academic research work, educational training, resource supply, etc., are included in these reflection processes. Also, exchange of knowledge and information with other similar institutes and women-theologians in Korea and abroad is essential.
