Introduction

The Ewha Institute of Childhood Education and Care was established as grounds for the finest education for future leaders, and as a research institute.
The institute not only contributes to improving education for children, but also provides childcare services for working women, promoting the social participation of women in accordance with the vision of Ewha.
The Ewha-ALPS Children’s Center, where the institute is located, was built as the most superior childcare facility with the help of the Ewha-ALPS alumni association (ALPS: the Graduate School of Policy Science, Female CEO Program).
The objectives of the Ewha Institute of Childhood Education and Care are as follows :

  • Develop and run educational programs for children.
  • Conduct professional research on children’s development and education.
  • Research and develop appropriate teaching materials and tools for children’s development and ducation.
  • Develop and run parent counseling and education programs.
  • Train education and childcare professionals.
  • The institute has a Department of Education and Department of Research to meet these goals. The Department of Education applies educational programs researched and developed by the professors of Ewha’s Early Childhood Education department, and educates and undertakes children ages 1 through 5. The Department of Research carries out multi-dimensional research on child development, teaching and learning methods, instructor support, family support, community ties, etc.
