The Department of Nutritional Science and Food Management at Ewha aims to undertake outstanding and innovative researches and to provide research-based education in the field of nutritional science and food management.
Our program integrates knowledge and advanced methodologies from the fundamental disciplines of biological and social sciences.
We strive to produce the professionals equipped with cutting edge knowledge and research skills as well as practical field experiences at global standards, contributing to the promotion of human health and diseases prevention.
Since established in 1965, our department has produced many graduates who has been working at domestic and international institutes, including educational, research, and governmental, clinical, and industrial sections.
Our Department was awarded as the National Best Department in Korea based on JoongAng Ilbo college evaluation rankings in 2013 and 2014.
Department is involved in various projects promoting global researches based on excellence in research competencies.

2016.

The Department of Nutritional Science and Food Management belong to the College of Science & Industry Convergence

2007.

The Department of Nutritional Science and Food Management belong to the College of Health Science

2005.

The Department of Nutritional Science and Food Management was approved with nutrition teacher training school by Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development

2001.

The name of the college changed from Home Economics Science to Human Ecology

1996.

Combined Master’s and Doctorate program was installed

1994.

The Department started the school-work links representing a cooperation between academy affair and research institutes
[Cooperation research institute: Korean Food Research Institute, Rural Development Administration, National Cancer Center, Korean Research Institute of Chemical Technology, Korea Institute Radiological & Medical Science]

1989.

The name of the college changed from Home Economics to Home Economics Science

1982.

Graduate study of Nutritional Science and Food Management was authorized for the Doctor of Philosophy degree

1973.

Graduate study of Nutritional Science and Food Management was authorized for the Master of Science degree

1971.

Asia Food and Nutrition Research Institute was founded

1966.

The Department of Nutritional Science and Food Management was approved with dietitian training school by Ministry of Health & Social affairs

1965.

The Department of Nutritional Science and Food Management became part of the School of Home Economics

1960.

Graduate study of Home Economics was authorized for the Doctor of Philosophy degree

1951.

Graduate study of Home Economics was authorized for the Master of Science degree

1947.

Housework Department of Academy was promoted and expanded as the College of Housework

1932.

Housework laboratory was established and Seniors started to overall practices related with housework

1929.

Ewha established the Department of Housework, the very first and high level of educational institution, and major of Nutritional Science and Food Management

1896.

Ewha was the first to open the subject ‘Home Management’
