The Department of Food Science and Engineering and its undergraduate and graduate programs was founded in the College of Engineering at Ewha Womans University.

2008

The name of the Department of Food Science and Technology has changed to the Department of Food Science and Engineering

The Aim of Education

In order to offer an outstanding and globally recognized educational and research programs and facilities for food science and technology, the department has set out the following specific goals :

  • Educate competent woman scientists in the field of food science and technology by providing a wide variety of lectures, experiments, and practice courses as well as research programs covering fundamental principles and practical applications.
  • Equip students with executive leadership through collaborative education and research programs with companies, research institutes, and universities.
  • Produce professional woman engineers able to manage and create cutting-edge technologies by enabling them to integrate biotechnology, nanotechnology, and information technology.
  • Educate woman students to become global leaders in the field by offering multi-disciplinary curriculum as well as world-wide exchange programs with industry and academic partners.
  • Contribute to the promotion of health and welfare of human being by initiating and driving innovative research and development in the food industry.
Careers and Graduate School Destination

Career opportunities are increasing in the food and other related industries such as food service and restaurant business, biotechnology, phamaceuticals, cosmetics, and basic consumer products, and governmental institutions.
Most of our graduates will work for product development,product/operation management, quality assurance, product analysis and evaluation, technical sales, regulatory affairs, and other areas.
