Economics is closely related to the structure of modern civil socity and the workings of modern society are in turn greatly influenced by economic relations.
As economic growth has created more opportunities for women and requires their participation in economic policy-making, economics is becoming even more important for women. Economics major will prove to be widely applicable in academia and society in general, as a basic social science, essential civil knowledge, and a means to join public decisions.

The Aim of Education

Knowledge of economics is essential to understanding the economic aspect of modern society. Because it tends be a basis for other social sciences, economics is an important subject not just for its own majors but all social sciences majors.
Economics is closely related with the structures of modern society. Also, the trends of modern society is greatly influenced by economic relationships. Therefore, the general public need a considerable amount of basic knowledge of economic phenomena. Furthermore, as the expanded economy has created more opportunities for women and require their participation in economic policy-making, economics may have significance as a tool for meeting such goals.
The Department of Economics aims at ensuring that economics, which is a fundamental social science as described above, fulfills its role as a basic knowledge for the general public and a tool for highly-skilled female workers to participate in economic policy-making.
In order to achieve such educational objectives, the specific goals are as follows :

  • Through theoretical study, enable students to perform in-depth analysis of the real economy and make logical analysis and predictions.
  • To nurture a stimulating academic environment with excellent faculty, who graduated from the world-renowned universities, in order to produce future female economic experts.

  • Government sector: The Financial Supervisory Service, Ministry of Finance and Economy, etc.
  • Government-run financial institutions: The Bank of Korea, the Korea Development Bank, etc.
  • Financial sector: Banks, securities companies, insurance companies, etc.
  • Private corporations, academia, and research organizations
