A message from President Michael A. McRobbie of Indiana Univ.

[130th Anniversary of Ewha Womans University]

President Michael A. McRobbie of Indiana University

"Greetings. I am Michael A. McRobbie, president of Indiana University.

On behalf of everyone at our university, I want to congratulate Ewha Womans University on the 130th years of outstanding service to women and to all of Korea.

As Indiana University prepares to celebrate its 200th anniversary, I have gained an even greater appreciation for the enduring importance of great education and institutions.

And Ewha, since its founding in 1886, has played a vital role in improving the lives of countless women across Korea.

ndiana University’s history of engagement with our educational colleagues in Korea goes back We are especially pleased with our partnerships with Ewha through our highly rated Maurer School of Law here at Bloomington campus and a renowned Jacobs School of Music.

Our university is also extremely proud of its 4,000 Korean alumni around the world and nearly 1,000 Korean students currently on our campuses, which include a number of exchange students from Ewha.

I have been fortunate to make several trips to Korea during tenure as president, the most recent being last spring when I was honored to participate in a panel discussion with President Choi on the global environment facing universities today.

My visits to Korea have made clear just how much education is valued in this country and how much of an impact Ewha is making.

Not only Ewha is one of the largest women’s universities in the world, it has also become one of the best universities in Korea and across Northeast Asia.

I want to compliment President Choi and everybody at Ewha for your hard work and great accomplishments.

And congratulations once again to all of our friends at Ewha Womans University on this outstanding milestone and very best wishes for continued success."
