Graduates of the Department of Chemistry and Nanoscience have been appointed a full-time professor at Pohang University of Science and Technology, Chonnam University, and Dankook University

Recently, Dr. Sun-ah Park, Dr. In-young Kim and Dr. Go-eun Choi, the graduates of the Department of Chemistry and Nanoscience, have been appointed as new professors at Pohang University of Science and Technology, Chonnam University, and Dankook University

Alumni Sun-ah Park received a bachelor's degree (2008) and master's degree (2010/ Advisor: Professor Youngmi Lee) from Ewha, Ph.D. from MIT (2017/ Advisor: Professor M. Dincă), and post-doctorate from Northwestern University (Advisor: Professor C. A. Mirkin), and has been appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry of Pohang University of Science and Technology. She has published papers in academic journals such as <Nat. Commun.>, <J. Am. Chem. Soc.>, <Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.>, and <Adv. Mater.>, and is actively conducting research on the collective physical properties of structures that appear according to the arrangement of molecules or clusters.

After graduating from the Department of Chemistry (2008, BA) and the Department of Chemistry and Nanoscience (2010&2014/ Advisor: Professor Seongju Hwang) at Ewha Womans University, Alumni In-young Kim was selected as an “ARC DECRA Fellow” by the Australian Research Foundation. Dr. Kim, who also served as a Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University in Australia and received the Excellent Teacher Award, has been appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at Chonnam National University on September 1, 2020. Dr. Kim has published in a paper in the top-notch academic journal in the field of chemistry such as <Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.> and <Nano Energy>, and is actively conducting research on nanohybrid materials with energy and environmental functionality.

Alumni Go-eun Choi has been appointed as an assistant professor at Dankook University's College of Science and Technology in March 2020 after obtaining a master's and doctoral degree in the Department of Chemical and Nanoscience (2016/ Advisor: Professor Jin-ho Choi) at Ewha Womans University, and then postdoctoral training at the Future Industries Institute of the University of South Australia. Until now, Dr. Choi has published papers in <PNAS, Adv. Funct. Mater.> and <Coord. Chem. Rev.>, and at the same time as her appointment in March 2020, she was selected to conduct a Personal Basic Research Project (Basic Research) by the National Research Foundation of Korea, and is conducting active research on the synthesis of nanohybrid materials and their application to the fields of drug delivery and tissue regeneration.

The appointment of these graduates is evaluated to prove the status of the Department of Chemical and Nanoscience at the University. In particular, the Department of Chemistry and Nanoscience is restlessly developing as the birthplace of female scientists based on the continuous and strategic support of the University such as the in-school specialization program, global top 5 program, promising major program, along with the efforts of professors.
