Professor Dongbum Kang from Ewha Law School Appointed Chairman of Inspection Committee of Ministry of Justice
Professor Dongbum Kang from Ewha Law School was appointed as chairman of the Inspection Committee of Ministry of Justice as of April 29th, 2020.
The inspection committee of the Ministry of Justice is an agency established by the Ministry of Justice with a purpose to “apply the advice of the Minister of Justice regarding fair and transparent inspection on its affiliated institutes, organizations and The Supreme Prosecutors' Office". The Inspection Committee of the Ministry of Justice takes the role in discussing the basic policies for the operation of the inspector's office, the basic plan for annual inspection, the methods and results of investigation of important inspection cases, and the matters requested by the Minister of Justice for advice on inspection. The chairperson of the inspection committee may present his opinion to the Minister of Justice and recommend necessary action.
Professor Dongbum Kang was in charge of criminal law and criminal procedure law, and served as the dean of College of Law at Ewha and Ewha Law School. Also, he served as the chairman of the Korean Criminal Law Association and the editorial committee of the Korean Association of Criminology. After serving as executive director of the Korean Association of Comparative Criminal Law, he contributed greatly to the development of the Korean Association of Criminology as the chairman of the association. He is also currently the vice president of the Korean Association of Criminal Case Studies.
Professor Kang said, "I feel a great sense of duty as the public's interest in the Inspection Committee seems to have increased so much recently. I will do my best to make the committee an organization where justice can live and breathe in accordance with relevant legal regulations and principles."
