The Ewha Institute for Global Social Responsibility (Director: Professor Ha Eunhee) conducted a university-wide awareness survey to assess members' understanding and perceptions of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

The survey was conducted over one week, from April 8 to April 15, and included students, faculty, and staff across the university. Designed to examine participants' understanding, level of interest, practical engagement, and overall perceptions of SDGs and ESG from multiple perspectives, the survey also featured an on-campus booth for two days to encourage broader participation. The initiative aimed to systematically assess the Ewha community's awareness of the University's sustainability efforts and to help shape future directions for education, research, and sustainability practices.
In particular, the survey served as an important foundation for evaluating how deeply Ewha's sustainability values have been embraced across the University and for strengthening sustainability strategies based on active community participation. Approximately 800 members of the Ewha community took part in the survey, providing a broad range of perspectives that enriched the findings.

According to the survey, 74.0% of respondents recognized ESG and the SDGs as important to university operations. However, only 48.6% indicated that they had a good understanding of these concepts, highlighting the need for expanded education and greater access to information. While only 11.6% had previously participated in ESG- or SDG-related events, 83.3% expressed willingness to participate in future programs, demonstrating strong interest and significant potential for greater engagement.
Among the programs respondents most hoped to see, international exchange and global cooperation initiatives ranked highest at 63.2%. When asked what Ewha should prioritize to become a leading ESG university, respondents identified expanding student participation (34.8%) and increasing practical sustainability programs (30.1%) as the most important priorities. Based on the survey results, the Ewha Institute for Global Social Responsibility plans to continue expanding programs and policies that enhance awareness of the SDGs and ESG while incorporating community feedback across education, research, social engagement, and campus sustainability initiatives. The survey findings will also serve as key baseline data for developing and implementing the University's long-term sustainability strategy and for further advancing member-driven ESG and SDG initiatives.
