Global Studies Division Holds Orientation for New Students for 2026-1
The Global Studies Division held an orientation for new students of the Spring 2026 semester on March 19 at Lee Sam-bong Hall in the ECC. The event was organized to help newly admitted students smoothly adjust to university life and gain a comprehensive understanding of academic affairs.

The program began with opening remarks by Jihye Kim, Head of the Global Studies Division. This was followed by a message of blessing and encouragement from Sunhee Ahn, Director of the Office of the Chaplain, under the theme “Words of Courage for Global Studies Students Beginning in a Foreign Land,” offering support for the students’ new journey. Dean Haeyoung Lee of Hokma College of General Education then delivered a welcome address, encouraging students to approach their studies with a spirit of challenge and to explore the Korean language more deeply and broadly.

Subsequently, Head Jihye Kim introduced the Global Studies Division and provided detailed academic guidance, including an overview of the one-year (two-semester) curriculum and the process of entering a major. She also introduced various extracurricular programs, presenting directions for supporting students in gaining diverse experiences beyond academics.

A highlight of the event was a presentation by senior students who had completed their major-entry process in the previous semester. They shared practical advice on adapting to university life, including actively participating in campus programs, regularly checking the university website and announcements, and making effective use of student communities.

The orientation concluded with breakout sessions by academic advising groups. In these sessions, senior students who had already entered their majors provided direct guidance on academic matters and shared practical tips on campus life. This allowed new students to gain more concrete information while also building connections within their groups, laying a stable foundation for their university experience.

The orientation successfully provided essential information to new Global Studies students and served as a meaningful opportunity to foster communication between juniors and seniors. Hokma College of General Education plans to continue expanding systematic academic support, tailored extracurricular programs, and strong peer networks to help Global Studies students adapt to a new environment and fully realize their potential.
