The startup team “Yeopbaragi,” which includes Ewha students, ranked first among 20 finalist teams at the “5th National Startup Competition for University Students with and without Disabilities,” receiving the Grand Prize (Minister of Education Award). The “Yeopbaragi” team includes students from Ewha Womans University majoring in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering, as well as Intelligent Semiconductor Engineering, and consists of a total of five undergraduate students from multiple institutions.
The team’s award-winning product, “Dabom,” is a neckband-type wearable device designed to enhance walking safety for individuals with low vision. It detects potential hazards approaching from the user’s left and right blind spots and intuitively conveys information through directional vibrations. The product received high praise for overcoming the limitations of existing assistive devices and for being designed from the perspective of actual users.

In particular, “Dabom” focuses on core functions based on appropriate technology design, while achieving high detection accuracy and fast response speed. Its tactile-centered interface enhances user convenience. Moreover, the team validated the product’s necessity and usability through interviews with visually impaired individuals, thereby securing both practicality and market potential.
The team has currently completed the development of an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and is gradually laying the groundwork for commercialization by advancing its features and building partnerships with relevant organizations.
Following this achievement, Ewha Womans University’s Startup Support Foundation plans to continuously manage and support the team by connecting it with on-campus startup clubs and other resources. Moving forward, the Foundation aims to strengthen its stage-based support system so that student startup teams can progress from the idea stage to full commercialization, while expanding efforts to discover and foster promising ventures.
