Kang Gyu-yeon, a PhD candidate in the Fashion Design major at the Graduate School of Ewha Womans University, received the “Young Artist Award” at the 2025 Annual Exhibition of the Korea Fashion Illustration Association. The exhibition was held at Gallery Insa 1010 from May 28 (Wed) to June 2 (Mon), 2025, under the theme “Signature.” It was designed to highlight each individual’s unique signature in a rapidly changing society as a symbol of “self-expression” and “redefinition of identity,” while presenting diverse visual experiences through fashion illustration works that embody the artists’ distinctive creative languages.

Kang Gyu-yeon’s award-winning work,The Algorithmic Signature, visually explores the process by which human identity is reconstructed through algorithmic language and data structures in the age of AI. The piece raises the question, “Is the modern signature still created by the human hand, or is it defined by algorithms?” and invites reflection on contemporary identity and social connectivity. Through this award, Kang Gyu-yeon has been recognized for experimentally expanding the visual language of the AI era within the field of fashion illustration and for newly exploring the meaning of a contemporary “signature.”
