Accelerating the cultivation of innovative talents through collaboration among professors, students, and industry
A platform for sharing outstanding AI research and industry-academia achievements to foster customized talents for enterprises and start-ups


The Artificial Intelligence Convergence Innovation Talent Training Project Group (hereinafter AIX Project Group, Director Lee Hyungjoon) successfully held the “7th Industry-Academia Collaboration Forum” on Tuesday, October 28, at the ECC Conference Hall. 

인공지능융합혁신인재양성사업단 AI 산학협력포럼 단체사진The forum, held under the theme “From Missions to Milestones – EWHA AI Story,” served as a venue for sharing cases and exploring future development directions aimed at advancing AI convergence talent cultivation and promoting industry-academia cooperation.


In his opening remarks, Director Lee Hyungjoon of the AIX Project Group expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thanks to the dedication of participating professors, the passion of students for research, and the support of our partner companies, we have achieved significant accomplishments in AI research, talent development, and industry-academia collaboration.” In his congratulatory address, Lee Minsoo, Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence at Ewha Womans University, stated, “Building on the experience and industry-academia cooperation network established through the AIX Project, we will continue to advance our university’s AI talent cultivation.”

The forum featured a variety of sessions, including awards and presentations of outstanding research achievements by Ewha graduate students in AI Convergence, presentations by participating faculty members on cases of industry-academia cooperation, and a special lecture by a corporate expert. During the awards ceremony, students who had achieved remarkable research outcomes in the field of AI were recognized, followed by presentations in which Professor Choi Janghwan from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Professor Shim Jaehyungfrom the Department of Computer Science shared examples of AI technology applications in industry and the achievements of industry-academia collaboration.

In the subsequent session on graduate students’ employment and start-up achievements, students presented their experiences gained from working in industry and their entrepreneurial challenges, demonstrating the practical outcomes of Ewha’s AI education. Concluding the event, Lee Hwalseok, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Upstage, delivered a special lecture titled “Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” emphasizing the importance of creative thinking and practical leadership in an era of rapid AI technological advancement.

Ewha Womans University has been at the forefront of fostering innovative talents in the field of artificial intelligence. The university established the Department of Artificial Intelligence for undergraduate studies in 2022 and subsequently founded the College of Artificial Intelligence in 2023. In the same year, Ewha was selected for the “Artificial Intelligence Convergence Innovation Talent Training Project” supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, through which it has been operating programs such as AI professional training for employees, internships, and distinguished scholar seminars, promoting “proactive industry-academia cooperation through demand- and industry-oriented research and education.” In September of this year, Ewha was also selected for the Brain Korea 21 (BK21) Phase IV Innovation Talent Training Program in the field of artificial intelligence. Through these initiatives, Ewha Womans University continues to lead the cultivation of professional, creative, and practice-oriented AI experts capable of integrating diverse disciplines and addressing key challenges in the industrial sector.
