Professor Choi Sun from the College of Pharmacy receives Special Achievement Award N

Professor Choi Sun from the College of Pharmacy received the special achievement award from the medicinal chemistry division of the Pharmaceutical Society of Korea. 

This award has been selected for contributing to the development and improving the status of the institute by bridging academic with policies based on research results and devoted passion, the ceremony was held on June 25th, at the Medicinal Chemistry Division of the Pharmaceutical Society of Korea’s 20th workshop at the Lotte Resort in Buyeo. 

Professor Choi Sun has introduced revolutionary researches into the field of pharmaceutical science by ways of theoretical biophysics using AI and molecular modeling, and her researches of developing conditioners based on 3d-structured target protein and dynamics, multiscale simulations, and mechanisms enabled her to present about 120 international SCI level papers including <Cell Metabolism>, <Nature Communications>, <Journal of the American Chemical Society>, <Angewandte Chemie>, and the <Journal of Medicinal Chemistry>, and achieved numeral accomplishments including applying and registering multiple domestic and international patents, as well as technology transfers to pharmaceutical companies for new drug developments. She has also elevated the field of “computer-aided drug discovery” in Korea to a world-class level, as well as actively conducting multidisciplinary convergence research with global top big-tech companies including Microsoft and internationally leading institutions from the United States, China, Japan, and Europe by managing to produce world-class research results and is working on global co-research and industry-academia cooperation. 

Professor Choi has also served in key national science and technology leadership roles, including Chair of the Life and Medical Science Subcommittee of the Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technology, private-sector member of the Special Committee on Biotechnology, the National Supercomputing Committee, and the Bio health Innovation Committee, as well as an expert committee member of the National Research Foundation of Korea. She has also played the role of secretary for advanced biotechnology in the Office of the Presidential Advisor for Science and Technology, and has contributed to the establishment of the National Bio Committee and as head of the support team, led three divisions and six teams, playing a key role in advancing the public-private collaboration and international cooperation in Korea’s biotechnology sector.
