Special Education Research Institute Signs MOU with the Korea Blind Family Association N

The Special Education Research Institute (Managed by Park JiYeon) signed a MOU with the Korea Blind Family Association (Chairperson Kim KyungSook) on July 7th, Monday at room 253 at Education Building B, promising early diagnosis for children with CVI or other visual impairments, including education and family support. This MOU was led by Ewha Womans University’s Special Education Research Institution, both institutions promised to build an inclusive and specialized education cooperation system.

CVI occurs due to problems in the brain’s processing of visual information, not the eyeball or optic nerves, there is no problem in eyesight but is a disability that can cause difficulty in recognizing objects and optic reaction. It is especially be accompanied by brain damage after birth, development disability, or profound and multiple disabilities as well. Precise diagnosis and individualized education and rehabilitation is necessary.
Both institutions plan to develop education and guiding data for stock of CVI awareness after this MOU and conduct a seminar for instructors of Introduction to Special Education and conduct resertch on early intervention and family support related to CVI.
