약학대학 멘토링 행사 ‘제2차 커리어데이’ 성황리에 개최 The College of Pharmacy at Ewha Womans University successfully hosted the mentoring event ‘2025 Career Exploration Mentoring: 2nd Career Day’ on Saturday, June 21 at the LG Convention Hall. Organized by the Ewha College of Pharmacy Student Council, this event was held to provide practical career information and job insights into the pharmaceutical industry. The event attracted great interest, with a total of approximately 160 participants, including around 150 undergraduate students and 12 graduate students.

About 30 executives from both global and domestic pharmaceutical companies participated as mentors, offering students insights and having direct communication. Participating companies included global pharmaceutical leaders such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Amgen, Bayer, Sanofi, Janssen, and GSK, as well as major Korean companies such as Chong Kun Dang, Handok Pharmaceuticals, Dong-A ST, SK Biopharmaceuticals, and Samsung Biologics.

The event was divided into three parts. In Part 1, keynote lectures were delivered by Mihyung Kim, CEO of Anterogen, and Heejeong Yoo, Head of the Narcotics Response Team of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, highlighting the role of pharmacists in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and public sectors. Parts 2 and 3 consisted of small group mentoring sessions, allowing students to ask questions and participate in deep discussions about on-field work environments, which left the participants highly satisfied. The event concluded with a prize drawing and a group photo session, allowing a sense of connection among attendees.

Celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, the Ewha College of Pharmacy was established in 1945 and is now the largest pharmacy education institution in Korea, with over 710 enrolled students and more than 11,000 alumni. The college has produced globally competent, interdisciplinary pharmaceutical professionals among a wide range of fields, including domestic and international pharmaceutical companies, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, the Korean Intellectual Property Office, public agencies, healthcare institutions, community pharmacies, and biotech startups.

This year’s Career Day was particularly designed to offer a roadmap for pharmacy students wishing to enter the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Students were able to gain a practical understanding of how to apply their academic knowledge in on-field settings and approach systematically to design their career paths. Furthermore, by building a mentoring network between current students and alumni, the event established a sustainable platform for further advice and support. This is expected to have multilayered benefits that go beyond simple career exploration to include job preparation, industry trend analysis, and strengthening of academic and professional expertise.

Jeong Ye-dam and Jo Soo-min, co-representatives of the Ewha College of Pharmacy Student Council, who co-organized the event, stated, “This Career Day was more than just an event of career information; it was a meaningful first step in shaping the identity of Ewha pharmacists and realizing the college’s long-term vision of fostering globally integrated professional pharmaceutical leaders. We plan to continue expanding practical programs that enhance students’ career competencies moving forward.”
