Center for Multiculture Research (director: Han Up Jang) signed an MOU (May.-Dec. 2023) with the World Educational Cultural Aid (WECA) for Understanding and Awareness of Interculture in the Year 2023.
Center for Multiculture Research aims to educate Korean nationals and foreigners to be good cultural diversity trainers and contribute to building an environment for intercultural education in local communities. The Center also plans to improve the general understanding of multicultural Korean society through discussions with experts for understanding, awareness, and development of intercultural education.
To build an environment for intercultural education in many more communities, the Center for Multiculture Research kicked off the programs for educating cultural diversity trainers for residents at Inje-gun, multicultural society experts at the Korean Immigration Service Foundation, and international students at Gyeonggi-area universities. The Center will also host academic conferences (in 1H23 and 2H23) under the themes: Understanding and Awareness of Interculture, and Korea from the Viewpoint of Foreigners. These events will be venues to hear from intercultural scholars and activists and seek ways to transition into an intercultural society.
The Center has signed MOUs and worked in collaboration with the WECA since 2019 to make Korea a better place as a multicultural society. Adding to hosting academic conferences continuously, the Center produced Professor Jang’s online lectures about interculture in 2022 and shared the videos with the public for free in order to improve understanding and raise awareness of intercultural education.
