The research initiative“Race and Gender: Global Korea, Neo-Racialization and Intersectionality”(Principal Investigator: Sunhye Kim) at the Asian Center for Women's Studies(ACWS) will host the international conference <B/ordering the Global: Transnational Feminist Critiques from Asia> from July 9 (Thursday) to July 11 (Saturday), 2026.
<B/ordering the Global: Transnational Feminist Critiques from Asia> begins from the premise that borders and boundaries today are not merely lines that separate territories, but transnational regimes that classify and govern mobility and settlement, labor and care, reproduction, health, disability, survival, and the future. Through this conference, we will critically examine, from feminist perspectives, the emerging processes of bordering and ordering shaped by war, the climate crisis, the spread of discrimination and hate, and the rapid transformation of artificial intelligence technologies.
Bringing together more than 1,000 presenters from 247 institutions across 33 countries, the three-day conference will be held in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online participation. In addition to panel sessions, the program includes an opening ceremony, keynote lectures, film screenings, book talks, and a variety of special events.
General participants may register through the conference website until July 7, and on-site registration will also be available throughout the conference. Registration is free of charge.
We warmly invite scholars, students, activists, and members of the public to join us in exploring the transformative possibilities of feminist critiques emerging from Asia and in expanding transnational networks of research and solidarity across borders.
