Duk-Hee Kang MD/PhD is currently a professor of Division of Nephrology, Department of Internal Medicine in Ewha Womans University College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea. Her primary research interests encompass the following areas: 1) Phenotype transition of cells in vascular, renal and metabolic diseases, 2) Mechanisms of peritoneal fibrosis, 3) Pleiotropic effects of hyperuricemia, 4) Stem cell therapy in renal disease, and 5) Nutrition in CKD patients, 6) Air pollution and kidney disease. Recipient of the Young Investigator Award from the Korean Medical Association, she has received several awards from the Korean Society of Nephrology, the Korean Women Doctors Association, International Academic Societies, and her university including the recent 1st Ewha Academic Award in 2023. With a prolific publication list exceeding than 250 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Review Nephrology, Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, and Kidney International. She has also contributed chapters to notable textbooks including “Textbook of the Kidney & Urinary track” by Schrier RW, “Nutritional Management of Renal Disease” by Kopple JD, “Core Concepts of Parenchymal Kidney Disease” by Fervenza FC et al, “Oxford Textbook of Clinical Nephrology” by Turner N, Bennett WG et al, “Chronic Kidney Disease” by Paul Kimmel and Mark Rosenberg. In addition to her research and academic contributions, she has served in various leadership roles, including director, council member, and other key positions in her division, university and national/international academic societies.
