Yoo Hwan Kim Professor

Prof. Kim earned a Bachelors of Law (LL.B.) degree and continued on to receive his Doctor of Juridical Science (Ph.D.) at the Seoul National University, the Republic of Korea.  He has been teaching for more than thirty years and is currently a professor at Ewha Womans University. As a legal scholar, professor Kim has been researching in the areas of Administrative Law, Government Regulation, and Education Law.  He works extensively with Korea’s Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of the Interior and Safety , Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Government Legislation in the capacity as a member of committees, a consultant and a trainer of public officials.  He has held   memberships of several governmental or parliamentary committees including the Presidential Regulatory Reform Committee.  In addition, for number of years, he was a board member of Citizen’s Coalition for Economic Justice, which is one of the most influential public policy oriented NGOs in Korea. In 2011 he has been elected as President of Korea Legislation Research Institute, which is the think tank of Korean Government in the area of legislation and Law. He returned back to the Ewha law school in 2013. He has been elected as President of Korean Public Law Association in 2017. His recent research interests are Alternative Dispute Resolution in Administrative Law Cases and Regulatory Reform.  He has broad academic interests in Church and State and Religious Freedom issues in Asia and in the Middle East.
