Ewha Womans University Delivered Donation and Personal Hygiene Items for African Girls to World Vision

Ewha Womans University offered chapel donations of 10 million won to World Vision, an international relief NGO, for the purpose of giving African girls personal hygiene items.

On June 19 (Tue.), our school and the non-governmental organization held a ceremony in the reception room in Pfeiffer Hall to deliver the donation of 10 million won and 1,000 personal hygiene items to support “Basic for Girls” in Africa. President Kim Hei-sook, CEO of World Vision Korea Yang Ho-seung, and graduate students of our school who sewed by hand sanitary pads for African girls participated in the ceremony.

The donation was collected at Ewha faculty’s Easter service, chapels held at the Welch-Ryang Auditorium, the University Church, and Upper Room Mission Association’s meeting during the first semester of 2018, and cotton sanitary pads made by 250 Ewha fellows were delivered together with the donation.

President Kim said that Ewha would “continue to seek to contribute to the society by protecting the health of children, mothers and girls as a world-class women’s higher education institution with a great infrastructure, including Korea’s first Social Welfare Department (formerly, Christian Social Work Department), Child Development Department, and the university-affiliated hospital.”
