President Choi Kyunghee Visited Ochanomizu University in Japan

President Choi Kyunghee visited Tokyo, Japan, from December 19 to December 20, 2015, on the invitation of Ochanomizu University.

In celebration of the 140th anniversary of the foundation of the Japanese women’s university, the university’s Institute for Global Leadership hosted a symposium under the theme of “Present and Future of Leadership Education: How to Foster Global Female Leaders” on December 19, 2015. At the symposium, President Choi delivered a keynote speech entitled “Strengthening Women’s Capacity via Education: From the Perspective of the History and Vision of Ewha Womans University of Korea.”


Director Kang Min-ah of Career Development Center at Ewha Womans University also participated as a panelist in the symposium, along with five Japanese professors including a professor from Waseda University who made presentations and engaged in discussion on women’s leadership education offered by each school. Director Kang presented “Present and Future of Women’s Leadership Education: Leadership Education and Career Development at Ewha Womans University” and introduced Ewha’s education on women’s leadership.


Later, President Choi met with President Kimiko Murofushi of Ochanomizu University and proposed to expand academic exchanges between the two universities including encouraging Japanese students to participate in Ewha University’s Summer College Programs and to initiate exchange between the research institutes on women’s leadership of the two universities.
