On January 28th, Ewha hosted the second “Special Lecture Series of Innovation Ewha” and invited their world-renowned scholars to introduce their accomplishments and contributions to the public.
Professor Wonwoo Nam (College of Pharmacy and Neurocognitive Science), presented the first lecture discussing ‘Oxygen Chemistry Brightens up the Future: The Secret of Oxygen Revealed by Biomimetic Research'. Professor Nam, one of the most prominent figures in biomimetic research, explained the role of oxygen and its impact on the aging process, disease aspect, and energy metabolism of human beings. He has published more than 250 works in eminent journals and has been the Chief Editor of premier journals such as ’Accounts of chemical Research’ and ‘Chemical Science.’
Professor Seoksoon Park (College of Engineering, Division of Environmental Science) also delivered a lecture on ‘Ewha Takes Care of Earth and Environment: Environmental Model and Technology to Cloning the Natural Phenomenon'. Professor Park, the first Korean Ph.D recipient in environmental science, is the world-renowned figure in mathematical model/computer simulation research of ecosystem changes and water quality of rivers, lakes, estuary and harbors. He had served as a chairman of National Institute of Environmental Research from 2011 to 2013, published over 150 articles in major journals and pressed over 20 books.
