Students and Graduates of the Graduate Program in Child Development Showed Outstanding Performance as Researchers

Students and graduates of the graduate program in child development have shown outstanding performance as researchers at academic conferences and research projects. 


Eunjeong Lee, a Ph.D. student (Adviser: Woon Kyung Lee), won the Excellence Prize at the 12th Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey on November 17th (Fri). She gave a presentation on her paper A Longitudinal Relationship between Sleep Quality and Depression of Teenagers and Life Satisfaction of Parents, which is about the longitudinal relationship between emotional and social factors related to teenage sleep. Her paper suggested that continuous observation and intervention for the sleep quality of teenagers is about emotional health that can affect the family’s health. “I wish to carry out more research that can practically help the healthy child development,” said Eunjeong Lee.


Seungbi Yim (Adviser: Sae-Young Han) and Sujin Kim (Adviser: Woon Kyung Lee), graduates of the program, won the Excellent Research Poster Prize at the Fall Conference of the Korean Association of Child Studies on November 4th (Sat). Yim gave a presentation on her paper, The Influence of the Infant’s Negative Emotion on the Infant’s Problem Behavior and Parents’ Nurturing Behavior: The Regulatory Effects of Parents’ Intentional Control and Nurturing Behavior, which proves the mutual relationship between individual characteristics of infants and parents’ nurturing behavior. “I will do my best in my research projects to help children live happier lives,” said Seungbi Yim. Sujin Kim, a graduate of the program, gave a presentation on her paper, How Father’s Experience of the Family of Origin Affects Coparenting: Mediated Effect of Marital Conflict and Psychological Well-being, which explains the influence of father’s characteristics as an individual and his marital relationship on parenting. “I wish to contribute to making a happier society for children and families by carrying out more research on co-parenting, a vital factor that has positive impacts not only for children but also their parents,” said Sujin Kim.


Hyeonjeong Hong (Adviser: Nana Shin), a Ph.D. student, received the Future Industry Scholarship, a scholarship given to students with outstanding performance in their Ph.D. research projects. Bomi Lee and Jae-eun Jeong (Adviser: Nana Shin), Ph.D. students, won the Excellence Prize in the 2023 Ewha Lab Start-Up Camp. “I will strive to make a bigger contribution to society with my knowledge and experiences from the Child Development Program,” said Bomi Lee, an award-winning team member.
