Ewha University-Industry Collaboration Foundation Hosted 2023 Seoul Tech-Marketer Olympiad

Ewha University-Industry Collaboration Foundation (President: June Seong Yi) hosted the 2023 Seoul Tech- Marketer Olympiad at Lee Sam Bong Hall in the ECC on October 18th (Wed). The event is a contest organized by Ewha Womans University (the chair of the council), Korea University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, and Chung-Ang University in the Seoul District Council of Project for Nurturing Youth Tech Experts in Collaboration with Businesses by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Commercialization Promotion Agency for R&D Outcomes (COMPA). The contest has been held three times to date. 


Hosted by Woo-Jae Kim, the vice president of Ewha University-Industry Collaboration Foundation, the event was attended by college students living in Seoul who aspire to be tech marketers, in addition to President June Seong Yi of the Ewha University-Industry Collaboration Foundation and Director Bongsu Kim of the COMPA. “I hope the young generation can play an important role in the developing ecosystem of technology commercialization,” said President Yi in his opening speech. “I send my words of encouragement and cheer to every participant.” Director Kim said, “Outstanding technology and creativity of youth are important drives for developing new services and introducing them to the market.” in his congratulatory remark. “I hope various experiences of technology commercialization can serve as an opportunity for young generations to develop their careers.”

Around sixty applications were filed this year, with twelve applicants (three each from Korea University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Ewha Womans University, and Chung-Ang University) selected for the final round. They showed their capacity as young tech marketers through presentations on technologies. Outstanding presenters were given awards after the judges’ assessment.

The winners of the awards are as follows: Top Award for Jiwu Choi at Ewha Womans University; Best Award for Kyuhyeon Choi at Korea University; Excellence Award for Seohyeon Lee at Ewha Womans University, Chanho Kwon at Chung-Ang University, and Juwon Kim at Seoul National University of Science and Technology; Participation Award for Wonjun Hong and Minji Yang at Korea University, Mangil Bu and Yiju Kim at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Soyeon Im and Subin Han at Chung-Ang University, and Chaeyeong Lee at Ewha Womans University.

Twenty-eight universities from six districts participate in the Project for Nurturing Youth Tech Experts in Collaboration with Businesses by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the COMPA. All the districts have a council, and Ewha Womans University is a chair of the Seoul District Council, which planned and organized the event. The participants said it was so meaningful to experience technology marketing, expressing their aspiration to make a contribution to the technological commercialization field.
