The Museum, selected for several enterprises hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Cultural Heri

In the spring of 2023, the Museum(director Jang Namwon) shared good news of being selected for several enterprises hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Cultural Heritage Administration.


Selected for the 『Support of University Museum Promotion Enterprise』, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, supervised by The Korean Association of University Museums


The 『Support of University Museum Promotion Enterprise』 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism aims to expand opportunities for enjoying national culture through the vitalization of the university museum’s cultural arts function and to expand cultural welfare · education benefits to locals and teenagers on the basis of the university museum. In order to do this, this project has been unfolded since 2018 under the supervision of The Korean Association of University Museums. Our school's museum has been selected for this project almost every year and has been chosen as "Excellent Exhibit Institute" for the 2020 special exhibition <Scenes of 19th Century Joseon> and 2021 special exhibition <In Praise of Plants>.

  

In 2023, a special exhibition is planned, where one can see Jeong Mijo(Painting major · graduated in 1972)'s donated artwork along with the special exhibit <Ewha, 1970, Jeong Mijo>, in memorial of the 137th year of Ewha’s founding, where 1970s Ewha's culture can be enjoyed. And the “Generation Sympathy CONCERT: meeting 1970 at the MUSEUM” with various special lectures will be taken place. Through this, the Museum plans to do its role as a cultural platform.

Selected for the 『Support for making Museum · Art Museum Online Contents Enterprise』, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, supervised by The Korean Museum Association

The Museum has also been selected for the 『Support for making Museum · Art Museum Online Contents Enterprise』 hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, supervised by The Korean Museum Association. This program has been planned for the competence reinforcement of museums and art museums according to the demand of untact online contents expanding. In this project, the school's museum will make the “All sorts of things : museum exhibits, ordinary and different story” that introduces the museum's various activities related to 2023's exhibits and “Inside and Out : down to the core, story of museum relics” that shows research results of the current collection and easily introduces in a fun way the stories of the museum’s relics, into a video. These videos will be made with the “Museum MZ Supporters”, that consists of undergrads · grads from the Department of Content Convergence, Art History, Interpretation and Translation etc. Through this, opportunities to explore museum-related jobs will be provided and be developed into a sustainable service.

Hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration, 4th consecutive year of participating in the 『Academic Research of Non-organized Buried Cultural Properties’ Preservation and Use』 

The museum has been selected for four consecutive years since 2020 for the 『Academic Research of Non-organized Buried Cultural Properties’ Preservation and Use』 enterprise. Due to it, the museum is continuing the academic program for the organization and state inclusion of Kyeongju Hwaoh-dong No.33(investigated in 1965), Kyeongju Inwang-dong No.149(investigated in 1973), Kyeongju Hwangryongsa temple site(investigated in 1969) relics. Through this enterprise, the Museum restores in detail and preserves the relics found and investigated in the 1960-70s through enhanced technology and surroundings. This will systematically organize the data and give great meaning to proposing new academic research results.

The school’s museum, which finds points to connect with visitors through various programs every year, has reached its 88th year of opening. It plans to work hard in preserving and researching the masterpiece collection that Ewha protected and gathered for a long time. Also, by developing the collection’s value and meaning into 21st century culture contents, the museum strives to share with many people of various generations, universities, and nations to show an active figure that doesn’t dwell in the past. Ewha Womans University Museum is working hard as a culture connector and asks the people of Ewha for their participation and interest.
