Lee Hye-young, majoring in geoscience at the department of science education, won the award for undergraduate contestants from the president of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and mineral (KIGAM) at the “5th Next Generation Geoscientist Academic Conference” held at Changwon Convention Center on October 25 (Tue) to 28 (Fri).
More than 1,000 domestic and foreign researchers participated in the conference, which was attended by researchers in the geological and global environment fields at home and abroad to look into the latest research results and trends. In particular, at the “5th Next Generation Geoscientist Academic Conference” hosted by the Geological Society of Korea and KIGAM and organized by the International Geological Congress 2024, Lee Hye-young (Advisor Professor: Lee Jung-hoon) was awarded by the president of KIGAM under the theme of "Isotopic Characteristics of Precipitation in South Korea: Application of 17O.” In order to study hydrology and climatic restoration using climate condition reconstruction, this study was awarded in recognition of quantitative research on the characteristics of rainfall isotopes in Korea, focusing on the use of 17O.
Lee Hye-young mentioned, "I am happy to receive a big award at the Autumn Geoscience Association Conference, which I participated for the first time as an undergraduate, and I will continue to work harder in research to shine Lee Hwa's name.”
