The Institute for Development and Human Security is holding a training program for Health Officials from Côte d’Ivoire under the theme “Strengthening Capacity in Health Policy Planning and Evaluation,” from August 17th (SUN) to the upcoming 30th (SAT) for 14 days.
The Institute for Development and Human Security is holding a training program for Health Officials from Côte d’Ivoire under the theme “Strengthening Capacity in Health Policy Planning and Evaluation,” from August 17th (SUN) to the upcoming 30th (SAT) for 14 days.
This training program was sponsored by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), 15 people including current Health Officials and National Health Institution representatives from Côte d’Ivoire. The training program was led by Ewha Womans University’s Institute for Development and Human Security (Directed by Jung Jae-Hyun), it was comprised of talks and workshops with themes such as the development history and system of Korean healthcare, Korea’s strategies on the pandemic situation, real case studies of KOICA’s projects, and establishing action plans and project concept papers. The participants will have opportunities to learn about Korea’s experiences firsthand by visiting the National Medicine Center, the National Health Insurance Service Institute, and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.
Professor Jung Jae-Hyun from the department of International Studies and who is also the director of the Institute of Development and Human Security, was in charge of the program and mentioned “The program is being held once again after last year, this year’s program is the final training for the third year, I hope the participants will be able to study Korea’s healthcare system and apply their knowledge toward policymaking and the development of tangible healthcare projects back in their home country.” This year’s training program includes Bang Yu-Rim research professor and graduate student, and intern of the international studies graduate school, Kim Ye-Jin as professionals.
The Instiitute of Development and Human Society has conducted various projects to relieve poverty and sustainable development in developing countries based on international studies and women’s studies, research and education abilities since its establishment in 2007. From 2019 to 2022, sponsored by the Gates Foundation, it has conducted research on Korean Global Health Strategy, and has brought up the international opportunity to discuss topics of public health system in developing countries and girls’ health through various international academic conferences. Since 2023, the Institute has been implementing KOICA’s global training programs, and from 2024, it has also been participating in the National Research Foundation of Korea’s Global Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Research Support Project in collaboration with researchers from Seoul National University. Most recently, the Institute has been actively engaged in collaborative research with the government, civil society, academia, and international organizations to expand Korea’s global health Official Development Assistance (ODA).
